The Great Park of the West

This balloon ride was the first attraction to
open at the Great Park
If you're not from Orange County, here's some geography for you. There is a city in the heart of this county called Irvine, which was built around an air force base (El Toro) back in the day, which has since been retired. The city's existence is owed to this base, as people initially flocked here to work on it and over time a developed community sprouted around it.

About 10 years ago, a dilemma arose with the roughly 1300 acres and what the city should do with it. If you live in Orange County, you know how the countywide vote panned out: the Great Park.

Although it would've been convenient to have an international airport in the space, the park speaks to the importance of the city's citizens. Give back, and stay healthy.

The video below illustrates the designs and layout projected to occur over the next 45 years or so.
