Sport Your Faith

I realized yesterday a very prolific theory on surviving. If you stay within yourself too long, you could possibly lose your balance between insane and moral. Not until you spend extensive amounts of time in solidarity do you understand how humans are truly parasites. We feed off of interaction,  or we feed off of just plain action. Is it really a punishment in this world that when you kill someone, to be locked away by yourself for the rest of your life? In theory, it's fallible but in action it is fool-proof. No distractions, no interactive participation.

So when I studied in Madrid for 4 months I realized how right Americans have it with sports. Europe really only has soccer, and some randoms mixed in between. A sport is soothing medication, the 5-8 you bring home with you after work. You pick a sport or sports, and you give your faith to it. To an entire franchise that will teach you patience or reward you with pride. A season is a lifetime, a finite idea that ends in tragedy or ecstasy but either way you know it's coming. Sports will teach you about how to handle life, and how to succumb to its shortcomings.

Yesterday, there were no major sports showcased on television or none being played locally. Basketball  and football seasons ended months ago, and baseball was on hiatus for the All-Star break. Soccer is here but wasn't on television. When you find yourself in limbo looking for answers, you realize the worth of watching and participating in the sports process. It's a distraction, a reason, a lifestyle, an enigma. There are so many reasons to watch, and so many reasons to loathe when they aren't played.

I learned a lot about myself yesterday and the bottom line came to one conclusion: I really need to find a fucking hobby
